Cheltenham looks genteel until you try to park a minibus on a Saturday or book a table during Festival. The listings skip that Dunkertons won't reserve tables on Saturdays, Malmaison afternoon tea caps at eight, and Eat Sleep Axe will turn you away if anyone's already had a drink.

Mr Cambray's Curiosity
Mr Cambray's Curiosity is a Grade II listed coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night. Bottomless brunch £35pp, 90 minutes unlimited prosecco, stuffed ciabattas, brownies, popcorn, Pick n' Mix, pesto pasta salad.
House spirits and mixers +£6pp; spritzers +£8. Sashes, tiaras, "Kiss the Miss Goodbye" frames on request.
Up to 10 at a standard table. Larger groups: The Ginstillery speakeasy room seats 50 from £240 per session. £5-£10 deposit per person, lost if you cancel inside 24 hours. December deposits are non-refundable.
Dunkertons cider tasting
Dunkertons Cider at Dowdeswell Park: £30pp, ~90 minutes. Half-pint on arrival, cidery tour, three ciders with organic cheese and bread, souvenir goblet.
Monthly cider-making masterclass £35pp if you want to blend your own. On-site street food after: Baz & Fred pizza, The Woozy Pig burgers, Casa Loca Tacos tacos.
No table reservations Saturdays. No dogs on tours. Cancel inside 48 hours: no refund. Private tasting room seats 25.
The Botanist and town-centre brunch backups
The Botanist Cheltenham does brunch and cocktail masterclasses if Cambray's is full. Cosy Club and Brewhouse & Kitchen handle bigger groups without the booking fight.
Private chef at the rental
Take a Chef and Poptop send vetted chefs to cook, serve, and clear up. Cheltenham average ~£84pp for five courses; buffet/BBQ ~£50pp. Best route for mixed diets: vegan, gluten-free, allergies agreed upfront.
Harts Barn Cookery School runs group cookery if you'd rather leave the rental kitchen alone.
2. Creative Workshops and Spa Days
Mixed-age groups (uni mates, mum, future MIL) usually need something that isn't shots at noon.
Life drawing, sip and paint, crafts
Life drawing works across ages: funny at 25 or 65, skill irrelevant. Art Craft Workshop covers life drawing, pottery, sculpting, fascinator making locally.
The Paint Club runs two-hour sip and paint at The Bottle of Sauce and Fioro Lounge. Materials and easel included; usually 7-9pm, good pre-dinner slot.
Mobile: The Crafty Hen (flower crowns, wreaths, jewellery), Crafts and Giggles (sash customisation, unicorn headdresses). DIY craft packs without tutor from £16pp under 10 people.
Agency novelty: ceramic vase painting, candle painting (often 10 minimum).
Themed dance classes
90-minute sessions, bride often free via agencies: Dirty Dancing (lift attempted, never landed), Taylor Swift, burlesque, Barbie, Wicked, line dancing for mixed ages.

Hatherley Manor vs Malmaison
Two different spa bets.
Hatherley Manor (Gloucester, ~6 miles): "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" from £350 per room per night for two nights: private three-course dinner, cocktail, 55-minute treatment, spa lunch, evening entertainment (nude model art class or flower arranging). Min 8 weekdays, 12 weekends.
Evening Zhen Spa Day £60pp, Wed-Fri 6-9pm, min 10: two hours spa, prosecco, cocktail, charcuterie. No lift to upper Executive Rooms. 10% service charge on everything. You'll need a minibus from Cheltenham centre.
Malmaison Cheltenham near Montpellier: Champagne afternoon tea from £20pp (sandwiches, scones, sliders, sundae, glass of champagne). Cocktail masterclasses from £39pp. Wheelchair accessible with lifts. Afternoon tea capped at 8 per booking: splinter group or smaller hen.
Ellenborough Park if you want outdoor pool spa energy outside town.
Hot tub at the house? Cheltenham houses with hot tubs.
3. Outdoor and Active (Including GoApe)
Not everything sits in town. Budget transport.
GoApe Forest of Dean: ~40 minutes, 2-3 hours treetop ropes. Agencies also book Bubble Mayhen, school sports days, clay pigeon via Dean Laser Clay.
Eat Sleep Axe: arrive sober or they refuse you. Book morning if anyone drank the night before. First floor, no lift. Full payment 24 hours ahead; miss it and the booking goes with no refund. Reschedule within 3 days costs £25.
Briery Hill Llamas for a daft countryside walk if the bride wants animals not axes.
4. Nightlife: High Street Hub and Montpellier
Compact town: once you're in, you walk. Neighbourhoods feel different though. Don't book a quiet wine bar when the group wanted chaos.

Moo Moo until 3:30am. Late Night Coco until 5am. Revolution on the High Street between districts.

Cheltenham Festival 2026
Tue 10 March to Fri 13 March. Ladies Day Wed 11 March can double as your hen day at the races: fashion awards, DJs, Queen Mother Champion Chase. Tickets from £54 Best Mate Enclosure, £109 Club Enclosure, 20% off multi-day, group discount 6+ at Cheltenham Racecourse.
Accommodation and restaurants spike race week. Within a fortnight of Festival, book houses months ahead or shift dates a week. Mobile cocktail class at the rental when restaurants are full.
