Buxton, also around 10 minutes by car, offers elegant spa-town surroundings, restaurants, bars, theatre, gardens and a good choice of places for a more dressed-up day or evening out.

For daytime plans, you are well placed for Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both excellent options for groups who want beautiful grounds, heritage settings and a more refined hen activity. The Tissington Trail cycleway is very close by, with cycle hire available, and the surrounding countryside is packed with walking routes for all energy levels. There is also secure bike storage on site if members of the group are bringing their own bikes.

Food and drink are easy to work into the weekend. There are 2 excellent pubs within 1 mile serving quality local fare, plus a traditional cafe on the village green in Monyash. A farm visit can also be arranged on request, which adds a memorable countryside touch to the stay.

A car or pre-booked taxis are recommended for getting between the house, nearby towns and hen activities, especially if you are planning evenings out in Bakewell or Buxton.
