Historic Manor with Hot Tub & Games Room - Hen Party House in Shepton Mallet

Downside House had no downside! It was the perfect venue for our multi-generational Birthday celebration weekend - there were 17 of us aged 11-75. The accommodation and room configurations provided maximum flexibility and everything we could have wanted or needed was provided, from kitchen equipment to games. The hot tub was a real highlight of course!We found the whole place welcoming, well decorated and spotlessly clean; the owners response to the smallest of queries was swift and helpful. Highly recommended for a large group and a great time :)

Lovely place to stay with large group or a number of couples. We hired it for a mature hen party, with 17 ladies. The rooms are all very spacious and easy to accommodate up to 20 guests with proper beds rather then sofa beds. A good number of bathrooms for guests, all modernly decorated and easy to use. The main dining room can comfortably seat 14 guests. The availability of having two kitchens was strange but actually very useful with a large group - allowing for people to cook what they wanted without getting in each other's way. The upstairs living room might not suit all parties as it is next to bedrooms but for couples/family gatherings would be great and an abundance of games etc. The outside gardens are very pretty and we were fortunate to have fabulous weather so could make use of the hot tub. Very peaceful surroundings despite being on a busy road junction. Tesco is about 20 minute walk. Hosts were very responsive and helpful.

What a stunning house, beautifully renovated and decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend birthday celebrations and couldn’t have asked for more!

We loved our stay at Downside house for a hen do. The dining room was fab for big meals, the living space great for entertaining and we each had lovely comfortable beds too. The hot tub was an added bonus and the location meant we could easily drive to collect guests from Castle Cary.We had a minor issue with hot water, but the hosts were easy to communicate with and sorted the issue as soon as we messaged them.

This was the perfect place for our hen-do. The communal areas of the house are a brilliant size for a large group (we were 17 people). Bedrooms are beautiful and everywhere was spotless! 100% recommend!

We had a fantastic stay at the property for my hen do plenty of space for all 16 of us and the hot tub was wonderful! Thank you :)
