What makes this property a great fit for your hen weekend
Bring the bridal party together at The School Rooms Estate, a characterful group stay in Box, Wiltshire, with Bath just 15 minutes away for cocktails, restaurants, shopping and a night out. Set within a beautiful period Georgian house with additional self-contained lodges close by, this estate gives a hen group the best of both worlds: plenty of shared space for everyone to gather, plus quieter corners for guests who like a little downtime between plans.
The set-up is especially handy for mixed friendship groups, mums, sisters and bridesmaids who may not all know each other yet. You can spend the afternoon around the pool and terrace, get ready together in comfort, head into Bath for dinner, then come back to a hot tub soak under the stars. The private swimming pool, hot tub, Mediterranean-style terrace, BBQ and garden make the outside areas a real feature of the stay, while the main apartment has a large open-plan living and dining area designed for long chats, shared meals and laid-back hen weekend games.
Sleeping up to 12 guests, the estate works well for smaller-to-medium hen parties who want more than a standard holiday cottage. The three-property layout means the group can stay close together without feeling crowded, and the village location keeps things relaxed when you are not out exploring Wiltshire or Bath.
The main apartment is the social heart of the estate. Its huge open-plan lounge and dining area gives the whole group a central place to meet, eat and celebrate, with a long sociable dining table for group brunches, pre-night-out drinks or a private chef-style dinner if you choose to arrange one. There are comfy sofas for winding down, a TV for background music or a film night, plus a pool table and board games for easy entertainment between activities.
The main kitchen has been recently refurbished and is well equipped for group catering, with a 5 burner range, dishwasher, washing machine and everyday essentials. Whether you are laying out pastries and fizz in the morning, prepping grazing boards before the bride’s big night out, or cooking a relaxed Sunday breakfast, it is a practical space that keeps hosting simple.
Across the estate, guests are accommodated in the main apartment and two self-contained lodges. The main apartment includes three bedrooms alongside additional sofa bed options, while the coach house and lodge each offer their own sleeping space, bathroom, kitchen and seating area. This flexible arrangement is ideal for a hen party where some guests want to stay up chatting and others prefer an earlier night. It also gives the bride, maid of honour or family members a bit of extra privacy without being away from the action.
The interiors are comfortable and contemporary while still sitting within a handsome period setting, so the atmosphere feels relaxed rather than overly formal. It is a stay that suits pyjama breakfasts, getting-ready playlists, pool tournaments and easy group meals just as much as dressed-up evenings in Bath.
The outdoor facilities are a major draw for hen groups. The exclusive-use hot tub is made for post-arrival bubbles, chilled Saturday afternoons and soothing tired feet after a dance floor session in Bath. The private swimming pool adds a resort-style feel to the weekend, giving the group a ready-made daytime activity without needing to leave the property.
The Mediterranean terrace and garden are great for slower moments: morning coffees, photo opportunities, relaxed drinks, or a sunny BBQ. With the BBQ on hand, you can keep one evening low-key and host a garden feast at the house, which is especially useful if you want one big celebration night out and one more informal evening in.
Inside, the pool table and board games help break the ice and keep everyone entertained while dinner is cooking or taxis are being arranged. They are also ideal for a hen party that wants entertainment without over-scheduling every hour. Think team games, bride quizzes, silly forfeits, or a casual tournament before you head out.
Because the estate is split across three close properties, the weekend can flow naturally. The main apartment becomes the hub for meals and group time, while the lodges offer calm spaces for a reset. That balance makes the property a strong choice for hens who want fun, comfort and a little luxury, without everyone having to be in the same room all weekend.
The School Rooms Estate is in Box, a lovely Wiltshire village on the edge of the Cotswolds. You have three pubs close by, so a quiet pint, pub lunch or easy first-night dinner is within strolling distance. It is a great option if your group wants a village setting rather than a city-centre apartment, but still wants quick access to Bath.
Bath is around 15 minutes away by car, making it the natural choice for a hen itinerary. Spend the day exploring the historic streets, boutiques and cafés, book a spa session at Thermae Bath Spa, enjoy afternoon tea, or line up cocktails and dinner before a night out. The city has plenty of stylish bars and restaurants, so it is easy to plan something that suits the bride’s taste, from relaxed and foodie to fully dressed up.
For daytime activities, Wiltshire and the surrounding area offer lots beyond Bath. Pretty Cotswold villages, country pubs, scenic walks and local attractions are all within reach, while Bristol is also accessible for a bigger city option. If your hen party includes guests travelling from different parts of the UK, the Bath/Wiltshire location is a practical and appealing meeting point.
A car or pre-booked taxis are recommended for nights out and group activities, especially if you are heading into Bath together. Once back at the estate, everything you need for downtime is on site: pool, hot tub, terrace, garden, BBQ and sociable indoor space.
If this sounds like the right base for your hen weekend, send an enquiry with your preferred dates, group size and any plans you already have in mind. The host can confirm availability, sleeping arrangements and practical details so you can start shaping a Bath and Wiltshire hen stay that feels fun, relaxed and easy to organise.

Things don't always go to plan but it is the way in which the host deals with these things that makes all the difference and at this place this the host demonstrated just how good they were at fixing issues. Thanks for everything and for a lovely stay.
Great location, clear instructions, clean, plenty of towels. Damp smelling bathrooms the worst being the front bedroom. Didnt realise it was a late 5pm check in when booking it especially when the hot tub and pool close at 9pm and isnt open again til 11am. Once the hot tub closes at 9pm all the lights go out exiting that area making it extremely dark and dangerous going down sets of steps back to the house. Overall a pleasant stay, just not amazing.
Our stay had a mix of highlights and some areas for improvement. The pool was excellent, and we genuinely enjoyed having access to it. The host's communication was great throughout our stay, and we were pleased to find plenty of towels provided for everyone. The three en-suite bedrooms and the main lounge area were a decent size and worked well for our group. However, the house as a whole felt smaller than we expected from the photos, and the garden was also a bit small. We also found that the freezer was too iced up to be used to its full capacity, and there was only a limited supply of dishwasher detergent. We felt the house could benefit from a more thorough deep clean more often. Overall, it was a good base for our trip, but the photos were a little deceiving regarding the overall size of the property, and the cleanliness and maintenance could be improved.
