The space

This is a hen party house with serious hosting credentials. Outside, the gardens are set up for long afternoons by the pool, big group meals, hot tub sessions and late-night chats around the firepit. Inside, there are generous communal areas, a large kitchen for cooking or catering, and a cellar games room for a lively evening without needing to leave the house.

The nearest neighbour is around a quarter of a mile away, giving the group a real sense of privacy, while the village itself is close enough for a pub lunch or relaxed drinks. Inside the house

Homecroft sleeps up to 16 guests in 6 bedrooms, making it a strong choice for larger hen groups who want to stay together under one roof. Bed linen is provided, so the group can arrive and get settled easily; guests just need to bring their own towels.

It is well equipped for group weekends, with an Aga, gas hob, two pyrolytic electric ovens and a wine fridge, so there is space to prep brunch, chill fizz and keep everyone fed across the stay. The outdoor space is where Homecroft really shines for a hen do. The large outdoor pool is heated in summer, creating a lovely focal point for daytime celebrations, poolside drinks and relaxed group photos. Out of season heating may be available for an additional charge, and gated access can be arranged, which may be useful for groups with little ones joining part of the stay.

For a more indulgent feel, the Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub is a standout feature. It is a brilliant spot for a slow morning soak, a pre-dinner glass of prosecco or a spa-style moment without leaving the garden. Wood for the hot tub and pizza oven is supplied at cost, so you can make full use of these features during your stay.

Foodie hens will love the covered pizza oven area, outdoor BBQ and floodlit dining space with a 20-seat table. It is ideal for a relaxed arrival-night feast, a themed dinner, or a big celebratory meal under the lights. There is also a firepit for later in the evening, plus a new poolside hammock deck and floodlit hammock area for lazy afternoons.

Location & getting around

Homecroft sits in Cheriton Fitzpaine, a pretty Devon village surrounded by peaceful lanes and countryside walks. Two traditional country pubs are within around 10 minutes’ walk of the house, both serving excellent food, and The Ring of Bells can also prepare meals for collection, which is a handy option for a low-effort group dinner.

For a livelier night out, Exeter is within easy reach by taxi or car, typically around 25 to 30 minutes away depending on traffic. As a university city, it has a good choice of bars, restaurants, cocktail spots and late-night venues, plus rugby at Exeter Chiefs for groups who want to add something different to the itinerary.

Mid Devon also offers plenty of activity options for a hen weekend itinerary, including paintballing, clay pigeon shooting, country walks and more adventurous coastal activities such as coasteering further afield. If you fancy a beach day, the Devon coast around Exmouth or Dawlish can usually be reached in under an hour by car.
