BBQ Hen House | Denbighshire | Sleeps 16

The space

For a hen weekend that feels a little more grown-up, Crogen Coach House brings together country-house character, sociable spaces and wide-open North Wales scenery. Set near Corwen in Denbighshire, this large group property is made for hens who want long dinners, relaxed drinks by the fire, garden time, games and outdoor adventures without feeling crowded.

The setting is a real highlight. With private lawns, mountain views, woodland surroundings and a peaceful estate feel, it gives your group room to properly switch off. There are several places to gather outside, including a private walled garden and a south-facing veranda with seating for a large group, making it a lovely spot for fizz, grazing boards, pre-dinner drinks or a sunny BBQ.

For Hen Hideaways bookings, the house welcomes groups of up to 16 guests, with flexible sleeping arrangements across the main Coach House and the separate Crogen Wing. This works especially well for mixed-age hen groups, bridesmaids and family members, or anyone who wants a quieter corner to retreat to after the main celebrations.

Inside the house

The heart of the house is the huge family kitchen, which has everything you need for a self-catered celebration. There is a four-door Aga, an additional oven and hob, family fridge, dishwasher, extra fridge, laundry room, washing machine and dryer. The large farmhouse table seats a full group comfortably, so you can gather everyone together for breakfast planning, a big homemade dinner or a private chef-style evening.

At one end of the kitchen, comfy sofas and a wood-burning stove create a relaxed spot for coffee, chat and catching up. If you want to make dinner feel a little more special, the separate dining room has an open fire and a cosy, elegant atmosphere that suits a dressed-up hen meal beautifully.

After dinner, the sitting room is ready for a slower evening with comfortable seating and another large open fire. It is ideal for games, speeches, present opening or simply curling up with a glass of wine after a busy day out. There is also a separate living and playroom with table tennis, giving the group an easy activity on site and a great option if the weather turns.

Bedrooms are arranged across a mix of king, double, twin and single rooms, including several en suites and family bathrooms. The Coach House can be used as one large property, or divided into two self-contained areas with lockable fire doors, each with its own kitchen and living room. The Crogen Wing sits separately at the rear of Crogen Hall, across the lawn from the Coach House, and offers extra privacy for guests who prefer a quieter base.

Hen weekend highlights

This house is especially good for hens who want a celebration that is social, comfortable and activity-friendly rather than nightclub-led from start to finish. Start the morning with a slow breakfast around the farmhouse table, head out for a North Wales adventure, then return for showers, music and drinks before dinner by the fire.

Outside, the walled garden and veranda give you a ready-made area for a laid-back garden party feel. The BBQ is ideal for an easy first-night meal, summer lunch or relaxed Sunday feast before everyone heads home. The south-facing seating area works well for decorations, drinks stations, hen party games and group photos with the countryside as your backdrop.

There is no need to over-plan every minute. The table tennis room is great for informal tournaments, the all-weather tennis court adds another fun group activity, and fishing may be available by arrangement. Unlimited wood is provided for the open fires, and the biomass heating keeps the property warm and welcoming throughout the year, making it just as appealing for winter hen weekends as summer stays.

If your bride loves wellness, the peaceful setting is a lovely base for a slower itinerary too. Think yoga on the lawn, a pamper evening in the living room, long walks through the surrounding countryside or a private dining night in the formal dining room.
