Could not recommend this place enough! Absolutely stunning cottage in a beautiful location. All the rooms are beautifully styled and decorated which gave the place a unique and special feel to it. Plenty of space for us all to relax and socialise together. We particularly loved the fireplace and the hot tub! Absolutely spotless when we arrived it felt like a fairytale cottage so thank you so much for making my birthday celebrations so special. Especially loved the little touches like the welcome hamper. Would definitely stay again!

We booked this property for my Hen weekend, and couldn't be more thankful to the landlord for his accommodation. The hilled garden made our sportsday even funnier, and we didn't expect to find coffee, tea, milk and sugar upon arrival aswell as a handful of other essential around the property. The neighbours were lovely and helpful also.would highly recommend 👌 Thanks again for having us

We had a cold buffet, afternoontea and BBQ all delivered /cooked on the premises.'SWING DANCE COMPANY' Brooke delivered an excellent swing dancing class which everyone really enjoyed'TIPSY COCKTAIL COMPANY' for a cocktail masterclass after dinner. This was so entertaining and perfect for the hen do weekend'THE CRAFTY HEN' for a fabulous craft activity in the afternoon.'DJ Justin' to dance the night away. Thank you!!

We had a fabulous weekend celebrates a 60th birthday. Everything about the house suited our needs. Fantastic open plan kitchen with a large table for eating and games, cosy living room and comfortable and spacious bedrooms. Went to both local pubs which very welcoming. We hired the camper van which I am told was comfortable. Couldn’t have been better.

We stayed at Ozgur’s house for a hen do last weekend and had a great fab time. It was exactly what we needed. He was extremely responsive and friendly and the house was just as described. Perfect space for a large group of people - the kitchen/ dining room opening onto the garden was ideal. Kitchen was really well equiped which was helpful. Great location for doing wide range of things: 5 min drive (or 20 min walk) to the beach, 10 min drive to Poole park run (!!) and a 15 min drive into bournemouth. Thanks again Ozgur!

Sturminster Newton Hen Party Houses: Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about booking, neighbourhoods, budgets and group fit for hen party houses in Sturminster Newton.

Is Sturminster Newton good for a hen weekend?

Yes, if your bride wants Blackmore Vale countryside, riverside pubs and a working mill rather than coastal nightlife. Shaftesbury and Gold Hill are fifteen minutes away.

Can we visit Sturminster Newton Mill as a group?

Yes. The working museum opens late March to September, with machinery running on open days and flour sold on site. Riverside picnic spots and free parking nearby. A calm group outing that feels distinctly Dorset.

What Thomas Hardy connections are in Sturminster Newton?

Hardy and Emma rented Riverside Villa near the town bridge while he wrote The Return of the Native. He also wrote the poem On Sturminster Bridge about the medieval crossing. Literary groups can follow trails linking the mill, bridge and vale walks.

Do we need a car around Sturminster Newton?

Most groups use at least one car. The town centre is compact with plenty of parking, but hen houses often sit in surrounding villages. You will want wheels for Shaftesbury, shops and a Weymouth or West Bay coast day.

What is the Blackmore Vale?

A lush dairy valley in north Dorset that Hardy called the Vale of the Little Dairies in Tess. Rolling meadows and slow rivers define it. Sturminster hosted one of Europe's largest cattle markets until 1997, and the annual cheese festival keeps market-town tradition alive.

Are hen parties welcome near Sturminster Newton?

On Hen Hideaways, yes. We only list houses that accept celebration groups. Check your shortlist for getting-ready space, room for games and a hot tub if the bride expects one.

How far is Sturminster Newton from Bath or the coast?

Bath is about fifty minutes north. Weymouth and the Jurassic Coast are roughly forty-five minutes south. Sturminster works best when your weekend stays in north Dorset, not nightly Bath bar crawls.

Sturminster Newton or Shaftesbury for a hen base?

Shaftesbury for Gold Hill photos and a hilltop town wander. Sturminster for the mill, river walks and a slower Blackmore Vale rhythm. Both are pub territory, not club country.
