Such a lovely weekend celebrating a friends hen do! The house was lovely, it was clean, inviting & had everything we needed. All of our questions were answered promptly- the hot tub was maintained daily, and they even got out some extra toilet roll when asked.
Highly recommend for a group holiday!
13 of us stayed at North Lake Chapel for my sister’s hen do and it was the perfect space. There was enough parking for up to 7 cars on the drive (parked carefully!) It’s a secluded location with beautiful surroundings and the inside is perfect for large groups, the bedrooms are all downstairs and the one large entertaining space upstairs was fantastic. Would definitely recommend for big groups looking to have a fun weekend all together and if another occasion arises we would love to return. The nearest shop for any essentials is a Texaco garage about 10 mins away so be sure to bring everything you need if you don’t want to have to leave!
We held my Daughters Hens do here what a great place!!!! Exactly as described with everything we needed and very clean!!! Before we got to the venue Graham and his cleaning team were fab communicating with us to help us. When we were there we did have a problem with the electric going off but Graham and his team sorted out an electrian who came with 1.5 hours and sorted it out. Thank you
We stayed here for a weekend for a he party. It was exactly what we needed. A wonderful location as It’s so isolated with beautiful surroundings. The property itself is full of character and history. As we were a group of 12 there were plenty of things for all us. Some people could enjoy the hot tub and being outside by the fire pit while others stayed indoors to relax and play with the endless games that were left at the property. The chapel was clean and well presented. It provided a cosy and functional feel to it. The hosts were fantastic and their communication before, during and after our stay was brilliant as they always responded in a timely manner. We would all definitely recommend this property to others.
We hosted my best friends hen do at the chapel and wow wow wow. We had the best time! The rooms were clean and comfortable and we liked that there were a variety of room layouts which helped us accommodate a range of ages and relationships. The star of the show was the upstairs living area. We loved having a lovely big table so we could all eat together and there was plenty of comfy seating for everyone to relax. The kitchen was very very well equipped, I’m often sceptical about the utensils available at air b&bs but the chapel had everything we needed and more. It was all lovely and clean and the hosts were very responsive to any questions we had prior. Would definitely recommend!
Chulmleigh Hen Party Houses: Frequently Asked Questions
Practical answers about booking, neighbourhoods, budgets and group fit for hen party houses in Chulmleigh.
Is Chulmleigh a good hen base?
Yes, if you want a rural Devon house with drives to Dartmoor edge walks, Crediton or Barnstaple for supplies, and quiet pub evenings. It is not a nightlife town, so plan the house as your main venue.
Where is Chulmleigh in Devon?
On a ridge above the Little Dart, roughly midway between Barnstaple and Exeter, reached from the A377 via the B3096. Eggesford station on the Tarka Line is a few miles south for rail guests.
What is there to do near Chulmleigh?
Walk lanes with views toward Dartmoor, visit South Molton or Barnstaple markets, or head to Croyde or Woolacombe within about an hour. The town's Thursday market still anchors local life.
Do we need a car for a Chulmleigh hen weekend?
Yes. Eggesford station helps some arrivals, but hen houses and coast trips need cars. Confirm parking on narrow Devon lanes before you book for a large group.
Chulmleigh, Tiverton or Cullompton?
Chulmleigh is smaller and more hilltop rural. Tiverton has the Grand Western Canal barge. Cullompton sits on M5 junction 28 near Exeter. Match the base to countryside calm versus motorway links.
Are hen parties welcome near Chulmleigh?
On Hen Hideaways, yes. We list houses that accept celebration groups. Taw Valley villages suit groups who keep the loud bit in the garden.
How far ahead should we book near Chulmleigh?
Peak summer and large barns across Devon sell early. Message owners before you lock suppliers or a minibus for your one Exeter night out.
What is Eggesford station useful for?
Mixed travel groups can train to Eggesford from Exeter, then taxi to your house. Handy if half the group flies into Exeter and half drives from London.
